Better late than never... This Sunday was about relationships in the church today. Marriage and divorce in particular. Better to stay married than divorce, and a man and woman are meant to marry for life were the basics. I agree that if you want to bear children, a man and a woman should marry for life as that is how long the children produced will need their loving home to remind them of the good life love can make...
If, on the other hand, you are intelligent enough to realize more relationships than breeding couples are possible, then other advice may be necessary. If two men or two women fall in love, they know they will not bear children, but they may want more than a civil union to recognize their love. A marriage may be in order. All serious relationships should be for life. Anything less serious should be regarded as a casual encounter between consenting adults...
Knowledge is a gift of the Holy Spirit. Without knowledge, one can be led by the text of Scripture to all types of folly. Yet with knowledge, a clear path through the entire world library is possible, highlighted by all the facts one finds along the way...
Without the Holy Spirit's gift of knowledge, the Bible is a perilous book. It can snare one for life in stumbled paths. The Bible itself warns in the book of Jeremiah that father and son shall perish! With the gift of knowledge to guide you, one realizes the perfect law of liberty is the judgment day legal code. There may be many bodies of law claiming jurisdiction over you, but the Book of James says to be as they that are going to be judged by the law of liberty...
What is important to remember is that there may be many legal offenses but what is truly offensive? Those acts which lawgivers found offensive enough to outlaw or that truly offensive to a higher authority? Even God is not above natural law. Natural law teaches to allow all harmless acts, or you are in violation of the greater liberty. Too little liberty is tyranny. Too much liberty is anarchy. Harmless liberty sounds just right!
When you know the truth, you will be free of all the misguidance a world may contain. Until then, pray for the Spirit of Truth to be given to guide you...
