The modern opinions of science and medicine are that spirituality is all a bunch of nonsense. The universe was not created, there is no God, and there are no spiritual gifts. Sure there's third eyesight or the vivid imagination but that's all. Some people believe their way to madness and imagine they are seeing angels or talking to God. It is all in their minds. Yet one is only one miracle or overt sign away from science and medicine not knowing what they are talking about.
This opinion of science and medicine is a favorite of unbelievers. They quote the good doctor that it is all in their head who see angels or talk to God. The devil himself would be proud to quote the psychiatrist to the struggling believer with a give it up. There's no God. One could surely see with a vivid imagination one could daydream up God or angelic visitations and be confused.
The blind see. The deaf hear. The lame walk. Clearly seeing any of these Biblical miracles performed one would know miracles exist. The gift of prophecy too shows there is foreknowledge of future things. The speaking and understanding of foreign tongues shows you are not just imagining a miracle. Yet one has to seek to find out if God is on his throne in Heaven, this is creation, and miracles do happen.
Until you get an overt sign it is easy to buy into the science of the times. The very ideas that the universe is not created, there are no spiritual gifts and there is no God are like a spiritual obstacle course to growing in faith. These ideas can totally derail you and lead you to the scientific explanation. Not believing is easy these days. Having faith until you get a sign is the hard thing to do.
